First Codes Workshop of 2010 in Leeds

The PCCB is pleased to announce that the next Codes Workshop, organised jointly with AHIPP and CoPSO, is scheduled to take place on Thursday 18 March 2010 in the International Room at the offices of the Institute of Directors in Leeds (3 Albion Place, Leeds, LS1 6JL). The IoD is situated in the heart of the city, ten minutes walk from Leeds mainline station.

Continuing the format adopted at the last workshop in 2009, delegates will again have the opportunity to receive a presentation from Christopher Hamer, The Property Ombudsman (TPO), who will explain the various elements of the TPO redress scheme, how it operates and specifically how firms will need to engage with the process if a consumer complaint remains unresolved. In addition to the TPO presentation, the main workshop themes will include an overview of PCCB's recent activities and position in relation to key stakeholders such as Trading Standards, sessions devoted purely to Search and HIP industry issues and related developments including the next Code reviews and a summary of the latest findings from inspection and compliance activities.

All registered firms are invited to contribute to the agenda for the workshop - if there are any particular topics or specific queries that you would like to be included then please notify PCCB in advance via info@propertycodes.org.uk.

As before, the workshop has an 'early' session for first time delegates that will open at 10:00 for a 10:30 start, prior to the full event. This will be a one hour session covering the basic principles under which PCCB operates and exploring the role of the Code Compliance Officer and how to ensure the Code requirements and obligations are met. This session will conclude at approximately 11:30 with a refreshment break. Remaining delegates (that have attended a workshop before) are invited to join the event at 11:30 for refreshments before the 'main' sessions of the workshop commence at 11:45.

After allowing time for Q + A, it is expected that the Workshop will finish at approximately 15:00. The workshop is free and as always places are limited so please book early. This Workshop is aimed at members of staff who have been nominated as Code Compliance Officers (CCOs) for the Codes - priority will be given to CCOs of firms that are already registered under the HIP Code or Search Code.

To reserve a place, please email the names of the delegates (we cannot guarantee places for any more than two delegates per firm) and your company name indicating whether you are wishing to attend the full day or the later session only to info@hipassociation.co.uk.
