Annual Conference

Another successful CoPSO Conference was held at the Victory Services Club on 15th October and, now in its 4th year, it brought together a large number of members for the day.

The day started with PCCB Inspectors, Denis Purshouse and the newest member of the team, Lorna Bown, giving a brief introduction into the role of the PCCB, the inspectors and the Board members.  An update was then given on the recent and future Search Code changes including the compliance note on Radon, drafting of a new chancel search, the introduction of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Regulations New Rules for Businesses which came into force from 1st October 2015 and the session ended with a light-hearted ‘ask the audience’ quiz .

CoPSO Chairman, James Sherwood-Rogers, then welcomed Kate Faulkner, from Designs on Property to open the afternoon session.  As always, Kate gave an insightful presentation on the current situation of the property market.  Our next speaker was new CEO at the Land Registry, Graham Farrant, who was accompanied by Commercial and Strategic Development Manager, Allison Bradbury.  They gave an overview of their current services and vision of their ambitious transformation.  Thom Wilkinson from The Law Society then gave a presentation on the Con29 consultation and the key changes to the form.  Our final speaker was Nick Macready, who along with his colleague, David Roberts, had joined us for the day and spoke of the changes within OS and the extensive range of data and maps on offer.  Open engagement with key stakeholders is a valuable part of the CoPSO conference and the day finished with a Q & A session.

The discussions went on into the evening with an informal dinner and entertainment, kindly sponsored by FCI.  We would also like to thank Landmark and TM Group for their sponsorship.

Our speakers have kindly agreed to make their presentations available to download and they are available by logging in and clicking on the ‘Resources’ tab of the website.
